Баренцбург — российский шахтерский поселок на Шпицбергене, входящий в состав архипелага Шпицберген. Этот город является одним из самых северных населенных пунктов в мире.

The sound installation the ice has broken is located in Barentsburg.

Barentsburg is a Russian coal-mining settlement in Spitsbergen, part of the Svalbard archipelago. This town is one of the northernmost human settlements in the world.

Основная идея этой инсталляции — предоставить жителям Баренцбурга возможность заглянуть в далекие, более теплые места, в надежде, что эти звуковые путешествия помогут им пережить экстремальные условия Арктики, особенно во время долгой полярной ночи.

The main concept behind this installation is to provide the inhabitants of Barentsburg with a window onto distant, warmer places, with the hope that these sonic journeys will help them get through the extreme conditions of the Arctic, especially during the long polar night.

Этот проект был задуман и разработан Мартином Харо и Рикардом Франчем Эрнандесом в рамках художественной резиденции BBResearch «Арктика как зеркало», которая проходила в Баренцбурге в августе 2026 года.

This project was conceived and developed by Martín Haro and Ricard Franch Hernández as part of BBResearch’s art residency Arctic as a Mirror, which took place in Barentsburg in August 2026.
